Shadouge Family Ch.1

Silver sat at the table, eating his crackers. Rouge was in the kitchen preparing dinner, while Shadow was at the table, reading the newspaper. There was music playing from the radio in the kitchen, but other than that, it was quiet. Silver finished his crackers, then crawled off of his seat. He walked over to his Dad and poked his leg. Shadow folded the top half of him newspaper down, so he could see his son.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Can we play outside?" He asked in an innocent voice.

"I don't see why not" Shadow put the newspaper down and picked up his son, "Rouge would you like to join?" he asked.

"Hmmmm….Actually that sounds fun!" Rouge put down the wooden spoon and walked to Shadow and Silver. They walked outside to the front yard.

"What do you want to do?" Shadow asked setting his son down.

"Tag!" He exclaimed.

"Tag?"

"Yeah! You're it!" Silver poked his father then ran off.

"That's not fair!" Shadow called, running after his son. Silver laughed as his father chased him. Rouge laughed at the sight. Shadow caught up to his sin and lifted him in the air. Silver laughed.

"Now" Shadow whispered, "Get your mother." Silver smiled a toothy grin.

"Mommy!" He yelled running to her.

"Ahhhh!" Rouge laughed, she began to run from her son. Silver jumped at her and grabbed her foot.

"Got you Mommy!" He said, wagging his tail.

"You know what would be better?" Rouge said. Silvers face lit up.

"What?!"

"Hog pile on Shadow!" Rouge yelled out. Shadow went wide eyed as Rouge and Silver ran at him. He turned but Rouge tackled him and he fell on his stomach. Silver jumped at the top.

"Hog pile on Daddy! Hog pile on Daddy!" Silver chanted. Shadow laughed.

"That's it!" Shadow declared. Shadow turned on his back and attacked Rouge with a barrage of tickles. She laughed loudly.

"I'll save you Mom!" Silver declared. He jumped between Rouge and Shadow. He pulled his Dad's arm's off of Rouge, "Run Mommy!" Rouge stood up. Silver looked to Shadow.

"You do know what this means don't you?" Silver gave him a confused look; then squealed with laughter as Shadow began to tickle him. Rouge laughed as Silver tired to escape. Shadow eventually let him go.

"Well I'm going to finish dinner boys" Rouge stated, turning back towards the door.

"Ok we'll be inside in a little bit." Shadow called, "So Silver, what do you want to do?" Silver looked around the yard. He then spotted a red striped ball. He ran over and picked it up.

"Catch!" He exclaimed, showing Shadow the ball.

"Alright." Shadow took a few steps back, and then turned to Silver.

"Ready?" Shadow asked. Silver nodded. Shadow threw the ball to his son, and he caught it.

They threw the ball back and forth for about ten minutes, before they stopped. Shadow picked up the ball, and then picked up his son. The threw the five year old hedgehog up and down and up and down. Silver squealed in delight.

Rouge looked out from the kitchen window. She smiled seeing her husband and son playing together. Shadow set Silver down.

"You want some juice Silver?" Shadow asked kneeling down to his level.

"Yea! Apple juice! Apple juice! Apple juice!" He chanted. Shadow chuckled.

"All right" he said getting up, "I'll be right back" Silver sat down on the grass and played with the ball, while Shadow went inside the house. He walked into the kitchen, where Rouge was washing dishes. Rouge turned, noticing Shadow.

"Having fun?" She asked. Shadow walked over to the white bat.

"Tons" he replied, giving his lover a kiss. Shadow then walked over to the fridge and pulled out the container of apple juice.

"Playing around gets a little guy thirsty real fast" He chuckled. He opened up one of the top cabinets and took down a blue sippy cup. He filled it with juice and put the lid on tight. He put away the apple juice and walked back to the door.

"Dinner will be done in ten minutes ok?" Rouge called to him.

"Ok." Shadow walked out of the door and towards the grass.

"Silver, I have your apple ju-" Shadow stopped in mid sentence. He looked around and saw that is son was no where.

"Silver?" He called. No reply. He searched around the bushes and continued to call his name.

"Silver! Silver!" Shadow couldn't find him anywhere. He ran to the middle of the grass where he had originally left his son. Hs ball was still there, but next to that a note. Shadow picked it up and read it:

'If you wish to see you son again, alive, bring $250,000 to the abandoned warehouse on 42nd street.'

Shadow dropped the juice cup in shock upon reading the note. He gritted his teeth in anger. He punched the side of the house with such fury, that it made a rather large dent. Rouge came running out upon hearing the 'Thud!'

"Shadow what's-" Rouge stopped, realizing something was wrong. She looked around the yard.

"Shadow…Where is Silver?..." Shadow said nothing, but turned to her. He held out a note. Rouge took it and read it. Tears welled up in her eyes.

"They-They kidnapped him?!" He cried. Shadow put him arms around her to comfort her. She cried into his chest, "They kidnapped my baby boy!"

"Don't worry Rouge, we'll get him back" Shadow assured.

"I don't want to give these creeps any money!" Rouge cried.

"They won't get one penny from us" Shadow said in a growl.
